hello, i'm madi, and i am NOT freaking racist.

The following is my personal opinion, and is written with the upmost respect:

Another ongoing trend I’ve noticed after this recent election is how the word “racist” seems to be thrown around quite a bit. Obama is our new president elect; I did not vote for him, nor do I agree with anything that he stands for; so apparently, according to the new American way of thinking, I am racist. The actual definition of racism is: “a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race” as Webster’s Dictionary so gracefully puts it and this does not fit me at all. I most definitely do not base anything on skin color, it’s a physical attribute to me. I believe that a person is not black, a person’s skin is black, so therefore, by saying that someone is black because their skin is black is like saying that I am green because my eyes are green in my opinion. America having a ‘black president’ is like having a president with dimples as far as I’m concerned, and that had absolutely nothing, nothing to do with my decision not to vote for him. I cannot stand how people who do not know me as a person make such horrid judgments about me based upon the presidential candidate I voted for; it’s the most immature thing I have ever encountered in my life. I could even argue that making such an accusation is racist in and of itself; they are the ones that are bringing the skin color factor into play, not I.

Basically what I am saying is this: the next person to utter the word “racist” in my presence is going to heed a few choice words, and an unforgiving kick to the groin courtesy of Madi, because I, for one, am sick of this shit.

Thank you.

man you are pissed. I agree I could care less for race, creed, gender. I want to know more about education reform, bailing out the American people (not CEOs), and taking back ridiculous National Socialism such as "no child left behind", "Patriot Act", "wire tapping"....the Gov. needs to get up out my grill unless they want to provide me something useful like free health care!

I haven’t heard it that well put thus far! I completely agree with you, as I did not vote for Obama myself due to his…ideals. All but one of my friends in the dorm of course all voted for him, and look down on the one other person and myself for not having agreed with their opinion, which they instantly attribute to his race. I understand that it’s difficult for them to accept that some others don’t agree with his policies, but it is a far stretch for them to go around accusing us of racism just as an excuse. Perhaps I am not as angered as you  however I agree with this whole-heartedly. Abortion is still murder, I’m only for it in the case of rape victims or if the birth would really endanger the mother’s life.

I don’t blame you for getting mad because people should not harass you about who you should vote for. It is your right to vote for whatever candidate you feel is right for the job. They should not call you a racist because you do not like that candidate for whatever reason. They should respect you and leave you alone. This was the most I have ever paid attention to the presidential elections, like watching the debates. The first time I voted I did not watch the debates and pay attention as much. A little before the election my aunt asked my sister who she was voting for. She said Obama and my aunt went off on her saying all the bad things about him and that she should vote for Mc Cain. When my sister went and voted for the president she ended up voting for Mc Cain. I think it was because of what my aunt said. No matter who you vote for people are going to always criticize you for your choice, this could be especially because there are only two political parties so they fight back and forth.
